On the weekends I try to get a long run in on the trails in the county park near my house. It is an incredible park given its size and location - small and on the edge of the city. There is a boardwalk, a rail trail and a paved trail to the playground and a dog park that most folks stick to. There are also miles of rocky, rooty, turn-into-streams trails. There is almost never anybody on them. Running here is refreshing and restorative; and kicks the shit out of you.
My favorite spot is a medow in the serpentine barren that is at the highest point in the park. The landscape is not like anything else in Baltimore. There was some intangible quality to the air and day that made everything brilliant. It just seemed to pop in a way that was out of the ordinary.
It was golden hour When I climbed up into the meadow. I found this rock outcrop and sat in the sun. Eyes closed.
A new sitting place found.
